ABOUT KIRKHAM HOUSE
Kirkham house is a holiday cottage in a fantastic location just behind the bustling North Parade in Matlock Bath, Matlock. The house boasts 3 double bedrooms and an integral en suite studio for a further two guests. There is a large integrated garage and an elevated private terrace to the front of the property and a high spec hot tub in the secluded rear courtyard.
Matlock bath, described by Lord Byron as 'little Switzerland', is a fantastic base to explore all the Dales and Peaks have to offer. Gulliver's Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham are a short walk away along with many quality pubs, cafes and restaurants all on your doorstep.
Finally, no staycation is the same without your dog. We are happy to accommodate two well behaved dogs but if you have more please do contact us and we will see what we can do.

WHY CHOOSE KIRKHAM HOUSE?
Kirkham House is all about high spec modern living in a beautiful, characterful house in a perfect location for an all action family holiday. A house iPad controls the Sonos sound systems in nearly every room along with controlling the hive heating system. There are HD flat screen TVs (hosting most major streaming services) in every bedroom. In the living room you will find a 3D smart TV coupled to a Sonos sound bar and Blu-ray player. Both bathrooms have double sized walk in showers with automatic lights, the garage door is remote controlled and even the plants water themselves! In the secluded rear courtyard you will find a high spec 4 person hot tub and in the kitchen you will find a proper coffee maker with milk steamer, double oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and my other gadgets and implements.
A unique feature of the house is Kirkham Studio that is built into the 18th century lower part of the house. It is a newly decorated double bedroom with a double bunk above and futon that can convert into a double bed below. It boasts a brand new en suite bathroom along with a Sonos sound system and flat screen TV. Whilst it can't be accessed from the main house (you have to walk down the drive) it is a perfect hide away for, perhaps older children, or a couple who want to have their own space. It is versatile so can be set out with a futon couch underneath and double on top or you can convert the futon at night to create 2 double beds (although we will only assign two people to this room but if you want to chuck all the kids in there that is your business!)
The location of Kirkham house means fantastic family attractions such as Gulliver's Kingdom and the breath-taking Heights of Abraham are moments from the front door. There are traditional seaside style amusements, museums, sweet shops and even an aquarium. For the evening there are multiple pubs and restaurants - you can even see the best pub in the area, the Fishpond Freehouse, from the front Terrace!
Kirkham House offers the ability to take a short drive into the peaks and all this has to offer but is located in the beating heart of Matlock Bath. This is why we believe it is ideal for families who love a holiday of contrasts and really do want the best of all worlds. Sure the pavements of Matlock Bath can get busy in peak season but tucked just behind the front, Kirkham house is a quiet sanctuary in a bustling and historic tourist town. Is this a house to go off grid and be isolated? No. Is this a house an extended family could all find entertainment, relaxation and their own space to enjoy? 100%.
